2010: Celebration!!

We will commit this last year 2010, for joyful celebrations over God’s abundant blessings on
Covenant. We will rejoice over the lost being found and the found being discipled to spiritual
maturity in Christ. We seek to do this by:

    1. Having all leadership committed

    2. Encourage sharing of testimonies/stories throughout the year on how God has used us to
      make Matthew 28:18-20 a reality.

    3. Hold celebration services throughout the year honoring God for Campaign 2010

    4. Hold an evaluation forum of Campaign 2010 with the Leadership and Ministry Teams giving input.

    5. Have a final evaluation by the Elders of Covenant.

“’My son’, the father said, ’you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.
But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead
and is alive again; he was lost and is found.”
…Luke 15:31-32

2010: Celebration!!  (Year 5)

These are the words of the loving Father to the elder son in the story of the prodigal.  Year five of Campaign 2010 finds us bringing together all the components of Pastor Andrew’s vision for Covenant.  The campaign has helped the church get back to the basics: love for each other (One Team), love of God’s Word (One Mind) love to pray (One Heart) and sharing our faith (One on One).  All of these biblical callings culminate in our Year Five celebration (One Joy).

The Campaign 2010 team after much prayer, consideration and approval by our Elders, have decided our focus in year five will be to establish small group communities who will vitally live out each component of Campaign 2010 and celebrate the joy of being disciples of Jesus Christ individually and corporately.

The vast majority of Small Group Communities will be in the fellowship of people’s homes twice a month.  In conjunction, twice a month, the Sunday Fireside service will be doing the small group study within the context of the Sunday evening service led by Dr. Stan Tyvoll.  Nursery facilities will be offered at the Fireside service to address the needs of young families needing childcare.

Congregational sign up for Small Group Communities will take place February 7 and 14 in the foyer.  There will be two sign up sheets, one for the Small Group Communities that will take place within our homes and the second that will take place within the context of the Sunday Fireside service, providing nursery facilities and led by Dr. Stan Tyvoll. Please feel free to join either format. If you are currently in a Small Group and for whatever reason would like to try a different group, please sign up at the table in the foyer.  The book ”The Prodigal God” needed for the Small Group Community first study will also be passed out at the sign up table in February for those attending SGC only.

Our commitment within these groups is two-fold:

a.)Small Group Communities will be committed to meet together, pray together and  study God’s Word together while openly inviting believers both old and new to grow in their faith and share the good news of the gospel.

b.) Small Group Communities will be committed to provide an avenue for reaching out to the unchurched and extend loving action toward those who are in need.

This two-fold commitment will be represented by two studies.  The first will be starting the week of February 28 with “The Prodigal God” by Tim Keller.  The second will be starting in September with the book “The Hole in the Gospel” by Richard Stearns and given as Pastor Andrew and Sarah’s parting ministry gift.

Our goal within the context of Small Group Communities is to “Love the Lord your God will all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.  The second is this: Love your neighbor as ourselves” Mark 12:30-31

Make it your goal to “Join the Celebration!” and be a part of a life changing experience. Celebrate God’s activity as we meet together, pray together, study God’s Word together and share the good news of the gospel in word and in deed.  Let’s develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ to know, grow and go….all for God’s glory!

Join the Celebration!
